Clothing

Unless you plan on hiking in the nude (trust me they’re out there), you’re going to at least want to wear some clothes, if not bring along a change or two in your pack.

Clothing is an essential item, and you can really see the ounces add up here. By investing in quality multipurpose items that work in multiple environments, you can lessen not only the weight, but the amount of outdoor apparel you thought you needed.

Just like with packs and tents, specialty materials and fabrics offer outstanding performance at incredibly light weights.

The following are some of my favorite pieces of clothing that I’ve used or wish to use on the trail:

Headwear

Insulation

Pants

Rain Gear

Shells

Shirts

Shoes

Shorts

Socks
